Coins of Various Kingdoms

Ancient kingdoms which was located on the east side of India covering areas of Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. These kingdoms consisted of Funan, Dvaravati, Lopburi (Lawo), and Sri Vijaya. Coins were widely used along trade routes of the Suvarnabhumi Land. This exhibition room simulates the atmosphere and presents an interactive map of cultural zones. The audiences can view ancient currency and learn economic, social and cultural stories of these ancient kingdoms.

The Emergence of Ancient Thai Money


The Emergence of Thai Kingdoms

Moving to the age of Thai Kingdom, people produced the unique currency, known as Pod Duang, as a medium of exchange. Exhibition displays and presents the stories of Pod Duang in each age through animated videos. It also simulates the atmosphere of ancient markets reflecting the evolution of currency from the kingdom of Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, Thonburi to early Rattanakosin.

Coins of Rattanakosin




In this room, visitors will learn about currency transformation from Pod Duang to flat round coins, currency in the decimal system and commemorative coins of various occasions. The exhibition demonstrates economic, social and political changes including the evolution of Thai currency.

Coins in Daily Life




"Currency” is made as a medium of economic exchange and used for other purposes in connection with religions, cultures, beliefs and tradition in way of life of humans from the past until present.

In the room of Coins in Daily Life, it is the simulation of coins being used on different rituals and traditions such as the child consoling ceremony, wedding ceremony, sacred marker sphere burying ceremony, Loy Krathong Festival, and rituals about the terminal time of life.

International Coins



This room exhibits circulating coins from 174 countries with a replica of unique identity of places or objects of those countries as well as commemorative coins and medals of 136 sets with different and interesting figures, colors, and production techniques.

There are various zones in this room that visitor can see, namely: International Coin, The Masterpieces of Nature, The Festive Celebration, The Precious Stone, The Hall of Fame, The Wonder Voyage, The Sign of Zodiac, The Discovering Outer Space and The Innovative Coin.

Creation of Coins


Creation of Coins

This room exhibits the process of coin production from the conceptual design to production process which requires delicate and meticulous craftsmanship.

There are 4 main steps to produce coins i.e. designing and mold making, seal, producing, blanking and stamping. The visitors will learn all stories through videos and simulation of machine operation while coins are being minted.

Fact about Coins



In this room, visitors will learn tips about coins such as how to store and clean coins. They can play coin games to test knowledge about coins in different terms.


Currency through Time


Currency through Time

This room simulates a medium of exchange from the ancient time that people knew how to barter natural materials and metals as the medium before developing into coins and medium in a new way such as credit card, debit card and the E-banking system.
