Coins of the Ninth Reign

           This room displays all circulating coins minted and used in the economy system during the reign of King Rama IX. This exhibit shows the development and changes of them in terms of face values, designs, materials, sizes and weights.



            Commemorative coins and medals were minted with various materials and manufacturing techniques on the auspicious occasions relating to the nation, religion and monarch including other important occasions. King Rama IX granted the royal permission to stamp his royal image and royal portrait on these coins and medals. All coins were minted to honor and express the loyalty and gratitude of Thai people toward His Majesty the King according to special occasions.
